• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

    If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

    To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

    The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

    This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I just acquired one of these MONSTERS tonight,on a trade.One I may regret.....I soldered a new PL-259 on the main feeder,leaned it up against my wood fence,got an SWR reading of over 3,on 151.820Mhz(MURS 1)(This is the 150-160Mhz antenna).After reading previous posts on here,I guess I need to clean up the connections on the dipoles,check the wiring harness(it is the rg-11/rg-83-35ohm) I never realized just how big these things are! I wonder,could'nt I take the top 2 dipoles,and mount them on another support pipe?? There is a connection there from the upper half of this antenna.Man,these things are built to take some abuse from mother nature! Built like a brick you-know-what! I love it!!!

They are great and you will be amazed at the performance once it's working correctly. I have a 16 bay uhf out back as well. I can get into repeaters using just an HT that other antennas barely receive.

Yeah,I was trying just to solder a new PL259 on,and,it was getting dark,so,I will re-do the connector tomorrow.I can just 'visualize' that antenna atop my 40ft Rohn Tower!,but,I need to go over the connections,to the dipoles,clean them up,check for water intrusion,and,sweep it with a MFJ antenna analyzer.
I have built some of the 2 element dipole arrays for other MURS stations here in town,that tuned up quite nicely.

Spent most of the day cleaning the dipoles,unraveling the old tape from the coax connector ends on the elements,Looks good! no moisture intrusion! re-wrapped them,took off the top half of the antenna,stood it up on a 10ft pole,ran a jumper to my SWR meter,Presto! 1.2:1.Talked to several locals around town.Great reports,Now,I will be cleaning the bottom half tomorrow.Luv this antenna! Decible makes some GREAT antenna products!
Looks like the factory used some fiberglass tape,covered with some aluminum tape to secure the wiring harness???? Anyway,I will be putting the same tape back on.Keep it original

Completely re-built both of the triangular weather-boot junctions on the bottom half of this antenna(weakpoint)on these.The center conductors had broken free.Checked continuity on wiring harness,good-to-go,Thanks;
