    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value.     The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Help Identify unknown antenna

I have found this antenna in a dark corner of the local second hand store for a dollar.
Anyone have any idea what its use was/ what frequency or band it may be useful for?
The element is about 92" long and it has an unknown circuit in its base.

It says 'Apelco' on the base.
The label says its made by 'Ireland', A company in Miami, Florida, that seems to be gone.

Hoping I can use it to pick up some new signals.

Looks very much like a Loran-C receive antenna.

Loran-C worked down in the long wave band, around 100KHz. The circuitry in the base was often an amplifier/tuned filter to help pull the signal out of the noise.

Loran C is mostly shut down. The antenna might be useful for parts or to build something else. The circuit at the base would need to go since it'll limit operation to the long wave band.

For a $1, you might be able to find some use for it. Removing the circuit at the base might make it into a decent low band (30-50MHz) antenna.
