Default Tuning an antenna for 477MHz

Hi,

Our group is using the NA-771 antenna on Baofeng radios for the 477-478MHz Personal Radio band in my country. Would there be much of a performance increase if we cut these antenna for that band? Is there a way to work it out? or is there a better (and robust) solution to increase antenna performance on this band?

Thanks for your time.

It is a dual band antenna, best bet is to get a mono band antenna for that

First thing would be to check tuning with an antenna analyzer. They already work pretty well in that frequency range; cutting the antenna might not help. Also, google Nagoya 701C.

Thanks, so the general consensus would be that im going to get better performance from a tuned UHF antenna vs a longer dual-band antenna like the NA-771? I don't understand radio theory too well but from what i can glean from the charts is that NA-701 would perform better on my frequency than NA-771 and that the NA-701C would be even better.

Thanks for your suggestions.
