ANNISTON, Ala. — The region’s top-of-the-line radio system changes in two weeks. Most of its users — from police officers to firefighters, highway workers to school bus drivers — won’t notice a difference, officials say.

A big thumbs-up to the writer and editor responsible for that article. I didn't pick up one obvious glitch on the technology of 800MHZ systems. The article was very comprehensive on why the change and how it impacts the various agencies. It was especially interesting that they got a direct response from a VFD chief on how they will operate without the 800 system.

The math seems off in their report.

They list $22.50 per radio to stay on the 800 system. But according to the numbers it should be about $270.00 per radio.
Other than that it seems like a workable radio system for them.
