Does anyone know the Freqencies that EB security is on? I know that the tactical teams channel is encripted but the others are in the clear.

Police from the Navy Base also provide security/law enforcement at EB ... or at least they are also on those talkgroups. I have heard them a number of times discussing various things around EB, people taking pictures (myself included ... part of my job), ejecting a terminated employee, badge verification, escort of the L&M Medic unit. So those TGs get some use at EB.

Are you hearing them on the repeater as talkgroups or direct on those frequencies????

Charlie,

I have those frequencies in the P25 trunk system with just those to talk groups. So I assume direct ... maybe?

This morning there was a car stolen out of an EB parking lot, while handled by Groton PD, it did come up on TG 27814 and initially reported through DoD/Navy Police before going to Groton.

So while TGID 27814 and 27816 are 90% the sub base, there is activity related to EB.

subs and tugs

hi, anyone ever been around the base area when a sub comes in? or goes out? does any one know what the tug boat freq. would be? I hear the coast guard on the marine channels when they are escorting a sub to or from the base, the say something like, "keep a 500 yard protection zone away from the navy vessal" or something like that.

The primary channel, even for the subs, is Marine 16 and Marine 22A when a sub is coming or out of NLON. '

The USCG announces a Naval Protection Zone, the distance and rules. They announce it hours before a sub is in the zone because they don't have an exact time for security reasons. The Thames Towboat Company operates seven tugs along the river and they operate generally on Marine 16 and 22A, you can at times here them on Marine 13 or Marine 6. At times the tugs are on the USCG restricted frequencies, such as 21A, 23A, 82A, 83A, but that is a rarity.

Thanks for the info, someday I'll get a photo just like the one you posted, great photo, most of the time I hang out in the fort trumbull public parking area and monitor from there. maybe 2 times a month, but haven't seen a sub yet. I love this hobby!

I cover Transportation/Aviation security and their related Homeland Security entities as a journalist for part of a living and have since Sept 15 2001 ... so I have a habit of being in the right place at the right time to see various things :0)

When subs come in they tend to hug the eastern side of the river, close to Electric Boat , escorted by three to five Navy patrol boats. USCG stopped providing security a while back, unless really needed.

The USCG uses P25 and some Encrypted.

Also around here I have also heard random encrypted traffic on of all frequencies Marine 16, but that seems to show up some what randomly on Marine 79
