I just purchased an Icom ID-31a do experiment with DStar. I had to download and import the entire repeater/reflector list from Icom in to the radio via SD Card as this radio was reset by me since it was used.
I'm registered with my local repeater in NYC (although it routes through a repeater in NJ which I cannot hit with an HT so I'm actually registered for Gateway use there, not NYC). I have verified that I'm in fact registered for Gateway use.
When I try to link to another repeater or reflector, I never hear the repeater talk back to me telling me it's linked. When I key up, I get a RPT? message and then my home repeater. I also get UR? when I make a Local call although I've had some QSO's locally.
to link, I've been doing the following:
1) Goto 'To' and select CS
2) Goto Gateway CQ for remote Repeaters and Your Callsign for Reflectors
3) I choose one and it takes me back to the To and From page
4) I key up and that's when I hear a beep but no linking message
5) I've tried to throw my call out but nothing. I also listen and hear no QSO's
Any help would be appreciated.
