Has anyone had luck monitoring the ATF's National Response Team? They were in the next town over from my hometown last year and I never could pick anything up. The Wiki shows them using VHF, but it looked like the guys walking around had Motorola XTS 800mhz radios possibly? The ATF will probably never be back in my area but I was just wondering if anyone had had luck monitoring.

Would be in the VHF or UHF goverment band, if anything.

Unless loaned by a local agency, 800 would not be a norm. Most likely saw a UHF radio with a stubby antenna.

Could have been using the little Visar style Vhf antennas. Lots of Govt agencies seem to like them. I've seen Marshals using them on Thales25 portables.

The last time I had contact with them, they had VHF XTS5000 M3s with the whip antenna and slim LiOn batts....

As an unoffical rule, government law enforcement (and most general gov't stuff) will be on VHF for repeater/simplex. Larger cities with a large gov't presence will tend to be on a UHF trunked P25 system. Not universal, but seems to be the trend.

Thanks for everyone's replies. I'll try these frequencies if I ever get a chance to monitor them again.

Try these:

165.2875 P25
165.3750 P25
Signal Intelligence,

Are you sure you didn't mean 165.5375? 165.375 is the Secret Service's "C" Channel.

500,

From how many years back? Reason why I'm asking is because as of 11/05 my records show 418.125 and 418.200 to be Drug Enforcement Administration frequencies. If your info is more current, then the two frequencies got moved within the DoJ from the DEA to the BATFE.

There always was Cross listing, from many Printed sources that had ATF and a few other Org's using DEA Frequencies/Tones. I'm guessing many were based on Task Force or Joint Ops vs the daily operations.

Then again many of our guesses are major assumptions unless we actually have one of the Radios in Question and we learn from our exchanges here.

Scandal,

My info on the frequencies I listed came from June 1999 while I was working with a Arson Task Force in MO.
