There are a number of federal prisons listed in the RR database. But, I have been collecting as much info on the BoP facility radio systems across the US for a few years now. The latest version of that list is available for download on the Monitoring Times web site, under the Readers-Only side of the site - MT HOME

You'll need a password from the latest issue of Monitoring Times to access this and other items of interest.

The BoP list I have been working on is not 100% complete, as I still haven't found information on some remotely located prisons, but I update it as often as I get new information.

There is a UXX section of the band that has some interesting "legacy" channel use for BOP, UMS, and FBI. Back in the days of crystal radios, these channels were intentionally put together so interagency operation could be acomplished in the event of a breakout and man hunt. As things are slow to change once coordinated, they are most likely still in use.

Search 170.6250 to 170.9750. The two documented BOP freqs I have confirmed in NY (when I lived there) were on 170.8750 and 170.9250. There is also a very interesting "history" with the channel in the middle, 170.9000. Also 170.6250 has this "history"( C zone group). A couple of USM inputs, direct, and courthouse channels are in that section as well. It is a hot spot!
