Hate to say it, but some of this looks awfully old and dated. The FBI hasn't been reported on HF very much if at all recently, and SAC?? Must go back to the 80s or so. Ditto with the NRC freqs.

FEMA would be found as part of the SHARES network, no doubt. 73 Mike

It's all about as useful as saying the Feds use the 160s and 170s freqs.

I agree. There are so many old and false lists out there that it is not even worth looking at. There are people here that are on top of it, but each region of the country does things different, so YOU have to search.

In 1983, Mono County, California took a number of actions in reaction to some interesting seismic activity, some of which may have indicated volcanic activity. The Forest Service established an HF network to link the dispatchers of the Inyo National Forest with the Toiyabe National Forest and the Bridgeport Ranger District, located in the town of the same name, which was the county seat of Mono County. The Geographic Area Coordinating Center (one of 11 in the U.S.) also had an HF radio. I worked out of the Bridgeport Ranger Station and had access to the radio, which looked like a military piece of equipment, although it wasn't surplus as it was new.

The net was tested every Wednesday. I was told by some radio techs that the feds had taken a new interest in HF, because of the vulnerability of other types of communications. Now everyone seems to have satellite phones in large incident mobile command posts. This may explain why the feds don't seem as interested in HF anymore. In the mountainous terrain I live in, times line of sight to satellites is not available in some narrow canyons. I would think that similar mountainous jurisdictions should not discount HF.
