Nice list!

I checked my database on all of those freqs outside the core 167 area (168, 170, 173...) and found I had heard DOJ traffic on nearly all of them at one time (or are active here all the time). These are good places to look!

Thanks Guys, Hey Squad 10 do you have any other radio line ups for the federal agencies in Chicago I'm thinking you and me should compare notes (if you would be so kind). Also is that the actual FBI radio line up for the Chicago and Rockford field offices because i had heard that Field agents were using some of the new 380 MHz frequency range but have never been able to confirm and I have found nothing there doing extensive searches in that range any way i was just wondering if maybe they are low power or something and probably 100% Secure but i was just curious if any body else has noticed this.

Hmmm, the 380-400 is typical for a Mil-Base not FBI
but alas nothing suprises me anymore.

My main interest is FBI, ATF, and DEA. ATF and DEA frequency/channel designations are well documented in the RR IL database. I have not found anything more than what's in the database.

What I posted is my current list that I have compiled from monitoring since the eighties when the last major system change occurred. I believe the Chicago line up is still correct as the frequencies are active from time to time and when a channel designation is mentioned it still matches my list. I have not heard the Rockford frequencies for years. I last verified them when I lived in DuPage. I doubt I would hear them from where I now reside, too far south. I've searched the 380 MHz range and have come up with nothing. I agree with ecps92. I doubt FBI would use that area.

Have you confirmed 0170.7250 FBI H-1/H-2? It makes sense to me, but I've never heard anything to confirm. Been years since I've heard 167.5125 called F7.

On this list, is it all Analog or have they gone P-25 yet?

The Nationwide group is P25, I confirmed this during a federal/county/local joint exercise at a mall close to where I live. I suspect the radios used for the exercise were part of The 25 Cities Project Chicago system as those frequencies were used heavily. Lima air to ground traffic was P25 coded for the exercise.

All other groups are analog, 167.9.

yeah i have confirmed 170.7250 as H1 repeater and simplex use on H2. I got lucky one day and somebodies radio dropped code sounded like a air unit, but anyway his radio dropped code and i personally heard them refer to Channel H1 as a repeater and then they asked him to try H2 direct so I'm assuming that means simplex and then they were gone nothing but the white noise of analog ENC on 170.7250. So that ones H1 repeater and H2 simplex.

Thanks, good hit. It's always nice to add another piece to the puzzle. Last channel designation I identified was H8 170.8250, same case as you mentioned, I heard the aircraft spotter ID it, my guess is it is also G8.

You know whats interesting is you here about the FBI going to P25 all over the country but were still on the good old analog systems in Chicago. Which is nice because the P25 channels hardly ever drop code but the analog radios they use here in Chicago do so it gives us a small window to ID these channels. I am very thankful that we live in a city were the feds were smart enough to keep the analog channel sets. If i have any new finds ill make sure and send them your way and if you ever happen to grab anything new please try to keep me in the loop. You really helped me update my FBI channel lists, I try and stay on top of the federal stuff so if you ever have any questions or new info about our federal agencies don't hesitate to ask or pass it along.
Thanks Again Squad10,
Bob

We have been fortunate. Chicago may only have about a year or two more of FBI and DEA analog. ATF and USMS are already P25 with USMS 99% encrypted. The goal of the DOJ Law Enforcement Wireless Communications is to get these four DOJ law enforcement components onto the same communications baseline.

The DOJ FY 2011 performance budget for LEWC states major FY 2011 planned activities include final system design of the Western Great Lakes area, including Chicago and Milwaukee metropolitan areas.

My feeling is that changes are coming to Project 25 Cities - Chicago - that will roll FBI into a large possibly trunked system.
