Hey There

Any ideas as to the users behind the following channels, all strong in Portland, ME?

408.2000, 414.3125 probably two channels on same Digital Voice system - MotoTRBO-like

411.650 Digital voice - MotoTRBO-like

415.625 Digital voice - smooth noise unlike Moto sound

419.250 FM Analog voice - Use Police 10 codes, 2digit IDs, lots of street addresses given during conversations

410.350 FM Analog voice - DCS Code 047

419.6125 FM Analog voice

Cheers

What make/model Scanner, some of your entries look like potential images from 451-460 mhz licenses, since you are hearing 419.2500 in analog, that is my guess.

408.2000 is FPS in P25
414.3125 might be USCG using LE14

However the rest are likely images.

Thanks for the tips guys. FPS makes sense as I see them all over town and so does USCG as the base is just over the water in South Portland.

RX is a PSR700, so it's quite possible these are images as there are some very strong transmitters on the nearby blocks.

99% of the USCG is in the VHF bands, however there have been sporatic reports of them using the UHF Federal Interops.

Images don't have to be NEAR-BY, they can be miles away.
I routinely pick up a few Fire Dept's in the 467 Band that are actually 470-483 mhz, from 4-8 miles away.

An old trick on some of the older BC/Uniden scanners was to use the image freq to remove the lower image.

In MA a few of the 483 Mhz Fire Dept's (on the scanner) also got Business from the 461-465 band, so we did the math and listened to the 503-508 image :)

419.250 FM Analog voice - Use Police 10 codes, 2digit IDs, lots of street addresses given during conversations

This is also the Federal Protective Service, it is common practice to use street addresses of building patrolled.

FPS has been P25 for a few year now, so it's not them.

Likely an image from 453 or 155 mhz

Additionally 419.2500 has been a known DEA freq for sometime from the analog days, not FPS

Not here in New England. ;)

If the OP would pass along the PL he is getting and the make/model, we can likely help decode the image he is getting from 453/460 mhz

Have been monitoring 408.2000 from Portland with my 436HP and can confirm that it is P25 with NAC 210.

Discussion about US CIS South Burlington VT among other things, so could well be FPS.
