As posted above, with regards to federal monitoring, is it pretty much a toss up between Whistler and Uniden?

Sort of depends on the level of monitoring.... if you're interested in understanding the system and not just hearing voice (i.e. see/track radio IDs and talkgroups, etc.), I believe the Whistlers are better for this if/when you're talking about encrypted voice channels.

Uniden tends to skip over/bypass encrypted activity. They don't even give you an option....
