Back in 1997 I got a MRK radio & had a friend program it to rx the Dade County system. I worked in North Miami at the time, & wanted to listen to what was going on. For years it worked great, but years later I moved up to Palm Beach, so I haven't used it in a while. My GF & I had to go to downtown Miami today, so I figured I'd see if the radio would still work. I didn't expect it to because of rebanding, but I was surprised to hear it work perfectly for the few hours I was down there. I realize a new system will be up & running soon, which will render the radio quite useless, but I was pleasantly surprised to hear the radio working perfectly after all this time.

A little update. I went to Miami again, 11 months after the above post. Not only is the Edacs system still up & running, but the 10 year old battery in the radio still had juice to run the radio for a few hours, even though it was last charged last December. I wish my 3 year old Jedi Impress batteries were that good.
