Respond beeps after tone?

A town I monitor, I haven't figured out what it is exactly, but after tones go out and dispatcher tells where and what is happening, it sounds like morse code getting returned, like maybe 3 seconds worth... and then the truck will respond, and this happens to every truck or ambulance that does respond on the dispatch channels... occasionally it will randomly send the morse out as well with no transmission... What is this?

Sounds like you are describing an identifier. It puts out a signal in place of call letters for an agency.............Hoser
