Whats the difference between N and I. When it just reads DPL311 how do I know which one to choose?

I would go with N for NON Inverted.

most DPLs are NON Inverted. i have never programmed up a radio to decode a DPL repeater and not have it work with NON Inverted.
im not sure of the reason to invert it, maybe it was to increase the number of available DPL'S.
