Has anyone who lives in the Northeast know of any active PPL frequencies? I know they have hundreds of licensed frequencies but, it’s possible they may be using Nextel or mobile data terminals for messages.

I have had a few hits back in the early summer on the low band stuff right after a really bad thunderstorm. They have a bunch of VHF-Hi and VHF-Lo stuff but I am not sure if it is linked together or separate systems. To my knowledge all of there trucks are still being built with low band antennas on them so I can only assume that they still use them on occasions.

Most of these are listed by the FCC as a new NXDN trunk system for PPL I believe 2 different sites. The frequencies listed with a RAN do actually have comms, although they are few and far between.

461.44375 PPL ELECTRIC NXDN 1
461.75625 PPL ELECTRIC NXDN
451.78125 PPL ELECTRIC NXDN
153.4775 PPL ELECTRIC NXDN 1
153.6575 PPL ELECTRIC NXDN 1

Thanks! I had a feeling if they were still using radios, it would be low band. Especially in NEPA. The topography is not kind to RF up here. I’ll have to get an NXDN capable scanner to try to check out the digital stuff.
