Can anyone explain in layman’s terms how to create a Custom Trunking Table?

I imported a system with Win97 that is about 15 miles away , but have never heard anything on it. I have it set to Normal. I read the page in the Wiki about determining offset frequencies, etc. and a couple of others I found through Google and also searched through these forums, but didn't get that feeling of enlightenment. Needless to say...math was never one of my favorite subjects.

This is the system:

The 'first guess' for a federal 406 MHz system is base frequency 406 MHz, Offset 380, step 25 KHz. Next try is to change step to 12.5 KHz.

I think for this one, I'd try 12.5 KHz steps first.

After that, you need to use a trunking monitor program like Unitrunker to monitor the control channel. Doing that will get you the 'channel number' the controller is assigning to the control channel itself. From that, you can work out what base frequency was used with the standard steps, and try those.

Note that some of these systems are complex, and have several ranges of channels, with differing table data (so you need a multi-entry table).
