Operating scanner on cigarette lighter

Anyone know if I can make my old cigarette lighter connection work on my new 2096 from Radio Shack?

If you bought the 2096 new, in the box is a cable for a 12v connection. Just wire up the cigarette lighter plug to the cable that came with the 2096.

Do yourself a favor and get the fused Plug for the cigarette lighter, they are usually built better and gives you that extra little bit of protection............Hoser

Hoser, what would you recommend for the rating on the fuse?

Uh oh, mind the POLARITY unless you want the scanner to go bye bye! Sometimes the center is positive, sometimes negative, check it with a meter or you'll be sorry.

That's too low the 2096 needs a minimum of 600mA I would say a 1A fuse.
