I have been very happy with my 3 GRE-600's and my GRE- 500 scanners.

Has anyone ever tried to find an answer to the volume control sensitivity ?

A different audio "taper" perhaps, or a series resistor ?

What problems are you experiencing? The volume knobs all seem to work fine on my PSR600's and PSR500. The PSR500 is a little scratchy sounding only when adjusted however it was that way new.

I would prefer more control from low to medium volume.

Other than that I have been very satisfied with all of my GRE radios.

Finding another pot to physically fit may be a challenge.
A series, or even parallel resistor might help.
I have a PSR500 and Pro106, both pots are just a bit "scratchy" from old age.

Scratchy volume control

My Pro 106 had that problem a couple of years ago. A quick shot of Radio Shack Electronics Cleaner and a few turns of the knob solved the noise.

I'm curious where you sprayed the cleaner as there is no opening into that pot. Did you use a knife to make a small hole in the plastic to create a hole in which to spray in the cleaner?
