Hi guys,

I've currently got a BC-245XLT and am thinking of upgrading. My question is,
how does one select a particular scan object via the keypad? The reason I
ask is that I'd like to also use the scanner to listen to communications
while I go to the races at Texas Motor Speedway. With the 245XLT I simply
put the car's frequency under the channel that corresponds to the car
number, e.g., car 16's freq in channel 16. That way I can quickly access any
particular car's communication. It seems that the memory in the PSR-500 is
dynamic so to speak so I'm not sure how I could do the same "car selection"
with it. Is it even possible?

Thanks.

The PSR does have a useful 'Find" feature which I started using this weekend. Works well once you get used to the funky text entering.

Don't forget you can use the quick text in the find. You could set the text string up for something common that you want to find.

Thanks for the responses. Looks like I might have to keep the 245xlt around just for race scanning as it doesn't seem as though there's an easy, direct access I was hoping for in the 500.

If you use external programming software, you could always "force" the Object IDs assigned to the various CONV objects you're using for cars. Then the sequence for selecting a car to monitor becomes:
MAN n n n n ENT
where <n n n n> is the car number.

(Or maybe you offset them by 1000, so that Earnhardt is 1008, Gordon is 1024, etc.)
