Hey Socal'ers. I'm heading down to Magic Mountain for the weekend and looking for some help with freqs.

What LASO division covers Castaic? (That's where I'll be staying)

What LAPD divsion is closest to Castaic?

Anything else worth listening to in the area? Not interested in fire stuff though.

Thanks for any help.

This time of year the fire stuff can be good in Santa Clarita. It is brush fire time. you should be able to get ICIS system on the Culver City/ Oat Mountain site, they have the same CC and table.

Castaic Area Listening

Here is everything I listen to. Fire is in there, so you can filter that out. Hard to monitor LASO, because you can't hear the field units, only the dispatchers on the dispatch channel.

Command: 470.4875
Tactical: 154.34 (151.4)

Angeles Forest Net: 172.375 (103.5)

CHP: 45.7 Base/42.9 Mobile

LASO Santa Clarita Dispatch: 482.8625

LASO Local Tac 8: 483.1125

Castaic Lake: 852.3125 (203.5)

LZJSR,

I noticed that you listed only straight frequencies (instead of TG IDs). Are these all conventional? In other words, would I just program these all directly into my scanner or are these just the control frequencies and I'd need to go find the talk group IDs? Thanks.

These are all conventional...straighforward UHF and VHF...no trunking in SCV that is worth monitoring...

The CHP now passes their mobile transmissions on the remote base's frequency, much like a repeater except the radio operator can switch this function off at the console. Just like the CHP when the "repeater" function is not used, you can pick up the mobile frequency of the LASD field units, but they have to be fairly close to your location to receive. I have them in my southern California file, but it is a bit rare to pick them up.

A good portion of Castaic around the lake is covered by LASD Parks Bureau and you can listen to them on SCC Access 483.5625 and County L-tac 482.8375
