LACo Fire Apparatus New Antennas

Hey all,

Has anyone else noticed the new "unicorn" antennas going onto LA County's fire apparatus these days? They are the black ones with a large base and whip extending out the back.

I've been searching Larsen, Maxrad, Laird... and I haven't been able to find this model on any of their websites, nor can I find out what band/purpose those antennas serve.


Anyone have any info?

Those are the antennas for the public safety lte (LA-Rics) system. They are used for the Mdc data.

Looks like the style with a GPS receiver in the base...almost like an aftermarket transmit capable Explorer direct fit rig just slapped on backwards.
