P7100ip disassembly tips / advice

New to the M/A-COM Harris radios, how difficult to re-case compared to a Motorola XTS? I'm looking for disassembly tips.

Unlike Motorolas, I see that the P7100 appears to be held together with 7 small Torx screws. Will removing these allow me to take the electronics out of the case? Presumably I have to pull the knobs first, do they just press fit onto the shafts?

Tools needed: A thin flat bladed screwdriver to pop the upper rear cap off, and a T6 torx driver. Also a small Philips screwdriver depending on what else you may want to do. (Optional, in other words.)

Remove one screw under the belt clip, pop the back cap off. Remove eight T6 Torx screws. Pull front case off radio.

Put new case on radio, remember to transfer the "zebra strip" under the microphone port from the old case to the new one (not important if the radio is only used for receiving and never transmitting) and reassemble the radio.

After you get the Torx screws out the case will split open. Watch out for the elastomeric ribbons at the top of the radio sometimes they stick to the board. Then you'll use a Phillips to remove the RFI shield. Three screws hold the board to the frame and there's a 2nd Lts "Butter Bar" under the PA for thermal conduction.

Knobs do not have to be pulled to open the radio.

The top controls are mounted to the cast frame and the control group has a flexible circuit connecting to a socket on the main board. Knob and control removal NOT needed unless replacing a bad control.
