Default The new Icom wideband receiver

Newly released receiver Icom IC-R 8600 compatible with digital wave | QRZ Now – Ham Radio News!

At the current exchange rate, this would be $1,987.90. Way too much radio for my "needs".

I was recently at the Orlando hamfest and asked the Icom rep about the new receiver (which was not on display in Orlando). She indicated that Icom was hoping to have a demo/display unit available for the Dayton hamfest in May. She did NOT yet have any information on the eventual US pricing.

Pretty much the same conversation I had with Fred Osterman of Universal Radio last Saturday. He was hoping that it would come in under $2k, but he said he was clueless as to what it will actually be and when.

Way too expensive for a dedicated receiver. Buy a comparable, or better transceiver for less!

That was the MSRP so I am sure the price retailers sell it for will be lower - but how much lower? I would love to have one as well but if it does come in close to $2000 probably not. That site listed the release date for the end of March. We shall see!
