Zones

I have the PD 782, I have been programming the NC-PRN and the South Carolina channels and TGs into it. I am currently using the zones, programming 2 towers per zone. It is my understanding that their is only 64 zones in the radio. At this rate I will be full when I get 128 towers in the radio. I looked at razorseal's youtube which was very informative. It gave me new information on the roam feature. But I keep wondering what to do when I fill up all the zones. I feel like there is something simple that I am missing. Thanks to all.

You're not missing anything. You just need to add more channels to the zones so you don't run out, and just figure out a different scheme for organizing them.

Personally for me, each DMR repeater gets its own zone and the channels in that zone their own talkgroup. So that basically means I can have 64 repeaters programmed at once. That's about 63 more DMR repeaters than are in my area.

Then I group the analog repeaters into zones by location. That's something like 16 repeaters per zone if you want to use the channel knob on that radio. GMRS gets a zone or two, etc.
