Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have 6 brand new ICOM IC-F43GS's out of the box and I just can't seem to get them into a state where I can program them with the CS-F33G software.

I've tried holding the Up key and P0 while powering on but with no luck. I've never had a problem with all of the motorola, yaesu, kenwood or icom amateur radios I've programmed over the years so I'm not sure what's different with this rig. Anyone have any insight? They didn't come with any paper manuals in their boxes so I'm limited to what the goog gives me and so far, I can't find any reference to another way to initiate cloning mode.

Thanks,

You don't have to do anything to the radio to be able to read or write using cloning software. But you do have to have the correct version. What version of the CSF-33G are you using? Do you have the correct COM port selected?

(HINT: many of the bootleg copies floating around are ancient and out of date)

Ok that settles it. It looks like my cable is damaged slightly (cracked casing on the USB end) which explains why it doesn't go into programming mode. My radio revision and software are both 2.3 as what was shipped with the package so I can only assume they will work with the new cable on it's way.

Thanks for the reply!
