• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have an Icom 5061d and i am trying to program in a local police department, but seem to be having some trouble.

The frequency is 158.790 the tone is 293 NAC.

When i go to put that in the RX box in my programming software i click on DTCS and then i enter 293 but then it automatically goes to 000N again.

I believe DTCS is DPL/DCS and not NAC.

I'm not sure this model does P25???

Sounds like the channel is set to analog and you're trying to enter the NAC in the CTCSS/DTCS box. When the channel is set as digital, there should be a separate box to enter the NAC.

That being said, PLEASE make sure to inhibit transmit.

F5061D's are 6.25 KHz 4800 baud IDAS which uses RAN's, not NAC's. NAC's are typically P25, a totally different 9600 baud 12.5 KHz digital protocol that the F5061D doesn't speak.

If the 293 is indeed a DCS and the channel is analog, try entering it as 293N and make sure the channel line is either analog or mixed receive mode, and TX is inhibited.

DO NOT ASK ME FOR HELP PROGRAMMING YOUR RADIO. NO.
The F5061/F6061 does not do P25 at all. It does iDas, Icom's port of NXDN.
Not the same, not compatible.

There is not even a P25 option board for that radio.

You'd need an F2721D with the UT-120 P25 DSP option unit and the EX-2785 J01 P25 activation software in order to have a fully P25 compatible radio.

NAC is not the same as DPL. NAC is accesible when digital mode is selected, DPL is accessible in analog mode.
