To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I own 3 IC-F30GS radios. Recently I decided I wanted to add a speaker mic for each. Only one seems to work with the accessory. I've verified the speaker mics all work. I just can't understand how two won't work but the other will. It's been a long time since I programmed these but each was cloned so I can't imagine it's something in the programming but I'm scratching my head here. Any suggestions?

First thing that comes to mind is you cloned from the one that works.. may have not cloned settings/preference

I went back and re-cloned them... still nothing. The mic works but not the speaker. Perhaps one of the pins are bad on the radio itself?

More than likely it's the accessory connector on the radio itself. Some of the older radios did not use a flex cable and directly soldered to the board. Can't remember if the F30 falls into that category, But for sure a bad design.

I agree but the accessory connector is also used to clone and that works. It’s used for the speaker mic and the mic works. It’s got to be just one or two pins bad that are for the mic. Any one have a schematic showing the pinouts? Would it be worth the money to get repaired at my local 2-way radio repair shop?

Just to clarify, you get no RX audio from the speaker mic but transmits fine?

It could be bad solder joints on certain pins. It's a relatively easy fix if someone is good with an iron.. But don't spend much as that is a 15+ year old radio and wouldn't be worth it.

I’m going to search and possibly create a new post but here is my follow up question. I bought an F33GS and need to know. Is it possible to clone Icom radios that use different versions of the programming software? I have F30GS that I’d like to clone to a F33GS. I have the cables and software for each. I just don’t want to manually type in 180+ channels and the respective data. Thank you.
