Hi all,
Apologies if I'm posting in the wrong area here, this is my first post. Feel free to move it if need be.
I have an older IC400PRO here in Australia that is just used for a personal CB. My car stereo has a mute input signal on it (unsure whether this is +12V or GND at this stage), and I thought it might be useful to link it to my Icom somehow. I'm wondering if it would be possible to use the optional OPC-617 data cable to wire up a circuit such that when a TX (PTT) or RX is performed on the Icom, it'll output a signal that connects to (and mutes) the car stereo? I was thinking of also wiring in a delay of 2-3 seconds after the TX or RX finishes, and a manual override switch in case I'm travelling through an area with unwanted RX transmissions or the squelch is playing up.
My confusion arises from the pinouts of the OPC-617. I'm not sure if it can be used for outputting such a signal on TX and RX, or whether it's strictly limited to signal input to the Icom?
Any suggestions appreciated.
Cheers,
J.
