Default IC-F9511 & IC-F9011 Technical References?

Hi!

I'm volunteer comms support for our county Search And Rescue. I just purchased new-to-me radios

ICOM F9511 & F9011

I have downloaded everything I can from ICOM, but I cannot find anything technical. I would like to find a programming guide, menu guide, service manual, and anything else.

For example, how does one find out what firmware is on the radios?

Thank you!

Jackie

Icom makes service manuals and bulletins available to their dealers, not directly to end users. Most Icom radios a combination of key presses during power on will display firmware version and D-REV. On the iDAS radios like the IC-F4061, it's holding the P0 and P3 keys down while turning the radio on.

Not sure about the P25 gear but give it a try.

Default Thanks, MTS2000des

Thanks! Holding the P0 and P3 keys down while turning the radio on worked for the F9511.

I have found a few more user guides and such. Sigh. Why so difficult?

The users guide is pretty much the manual that comes with it. As far as operation, the radio can be configured in so many ways it's impossible to make a manual that covers all the bases. There are P25 conventional and P25 Trunking models, some with AES/DES encryption, etc, etc.

Programming help is included with the CPS under help files. But, if you're programming an advanced radio such as this it is under the assumption you know the basics of radio programming. Getting into P25 Trunking subscriber programming is not something designed for the novice (not saying you are).

Most of the technical stuff is only provided to the dealers, like most other major radio brands.

Wink

Yes, I know there are a million combinations of settings.

However, before I slapped on a programming cable, I needed to know the firmware.

Also, I want to buy a good antenna for it, so needed the specs.

As far as I can tell, you can program this thing to have coffee ready!
