• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Is there an update to the firmware to allow nxdn in 9600 mode? I have one unit and when received on scanner it shows nx4800.

Nope also

I understand that the 5061 is and will remain 6.25-4800 only. So much for the "Try and outgrow this radio marketing". The newer chassis do both, but don't hold your breath on firmware back-dating older IDAS products.

First time poster long time listener.......This exact situation has plagued me for years !!! I have owned several 5061's and 6061's. Our county switched to Kenwood nxdn conventional repeaters about 5 years ago....For some reason they were talked into using 12.5-9600 mode for law operations which was exclusive Kenwood only ( Icom had not yet released the 5360 series yet). The Fire Dept had an Icom 6.25-4800 system at the time and still does to this day. I was involved with both entities at the time so it was essential for me to be able to communicate with both depts. Long story short I ended up ditching the 5061 series in favor of an NX-700 which had both 6.25 and 12.5 capability. My main complaint to the "county radio guy" at the time was the need for them to re program the 2 repeaters they had to use very narrow mode allowing depts. to use ICOM or KENWOOD products......but seeing how the majority was using Kenwood products that option was basically shrugged off, forcing two smaller PD's to buy brand new radios when the 5061's they had were only 2 years old. I really wish ICOM would have released this and other series radios with both 12.5 and 6.25 but, I'm sure that will never happen especially considering the new type-c radio (Kenwood in and Icom case) is one of the only solution's they provide today.
