IC-R20, Will Iose settings with battery discharge?

I don't find an answer to this in the manual. If I use the unit only on the rechargeable battery pack and it wears down, will I lose settings such as programmed channels, programmed edge scanning, etc?

Also, I heard it runs about 8 hours on a charge. True? Thanks to all.

No, and it depends on your usage

You won't lose the settings, the R-20 has a non-volatile memory. Even with the battery off the radio it holds the settings.
