Now that the IC-R30 is available I think it would be helpful to have a separate thread for resources we have identified or created for this receiver. For example, Hit Factor was kind enough to share two csv files but the links are buried in the release date thread and they are likely to be overlooked by someone looking for them. I am looking for a soft case (Icom LC-189) and programming software and so far neither is available. As soon as I find either I will post the source in this thread. I'm also interested in identifying a suitable Pelican or similar case. If anyone finds one please share you experience.

Memory file tips

Today I put together a memory file by cutting and pasting from the RR databases into Hit Factor's template. I noticed that if I have too many decimal places in the frequency that memory location will not be written to the radio. Similarly, if I try a mode that the radio does not have, that memory location will not be written to the radio. Bottom line, you can cut and paste from the RR database but the file will need some curation before it works.

Other than these minor glitches, in less than 30 minutes I have 11 banks and hundreds of memory locations programmed.

I agree

Sorry, not buying the Icom software at that price. It seems to use the same GUI, format and functions as their R20 software and, if that’s correct, there’s no way it’s worth $75.00.
I’ll wait to see what RT Systems comes up with.

I have been waiting to get a case so I was pretty excited to see that it is finally available. I didn't even look at the price of the software before I sent my earlier message. I agree, $75 is very expensive unless it unlocks features not available from the keypad but that is not particularly likely.

VS-3 - Bluetooth headset

Anyone using the VS-3 Bluetooth headset with their R-30 ? Is it worth what they are asking for ?

Just stopped at Universal Radio - neither the ICOM R30 Case or Go Bag are released yet. Universal Radio almost always shows new products on their website with a price - before they have initial stock.

Very good
Sorry for the translation ...

As Comet Comes, I have tested several Bluetooth and all works very well, but none of them can be programmed keys for functions; I bought the VS-3 and although it is worth a lot of money, I am very happy to have programmable functions on the keys of the VS-3.

If I can help with some other information, comment it.

regards

I spot checked the HRO accessories. None are in stock yet. Look for check boxes at the locations to show when item is in stock .

I called yesterday and no ETA for the cs-r30.

My next purchase for my R30 will be the IC-BP293 AA battery case when it becomes available.

HRO

I have been checking Ham Radio Outlet's website almost daily waiting for the AA battery pack to become available but they don't seem to have any accessories other than Icom's software. Has anyone had any luck buying R30 accessories from them? It's odd that they have had the radio from the start, I got mine there in June, but they don't have accessories.

I have not looked into how much power the r30 uses. So I'm guessing, I bet running on alkaline batteries will be disappointing.

A spare rechargeable battery, maybe a solar charger or another source depending on your needs.

What do you want to do with AA batteries?
