With the coming of these statewide trunked radio systems, it's now exponentially easier and cheaper for statewide operations like ISP to start consolidating operations.

I would fully expect a similar discussion in Wisconsin with WSP once they get comfortable with WISCOM and the flexibility it brings. WSP has 7 Post's, each with a comm center. The irony of the consolidation discussion in Wisconsin is that WSP used to be centrally dispatched several decades ago, then they had one Post to try it on their own and it worked and then by the late 60's/early 70's the dispatching was all local at the respective Post. Ever since, the consolidation topic comes and goes (mostly goes based on $$) but with the statewide trunked system, any console can use any talkgroup on the system (if programmed) so what's stopping consolidation from coming up again?

It will be interesting to watch how ISP does this, if it moves forward.

From the hobby standpoint, it may even make scanning the system a little more interesting as new or different talkgroups or agencies emerge from different parts of the state. I have noticed some changes already taking place due to the consolidation efforts.
