Decatur PD Scanner

Hello Everyone,

Im new to the radio scanner world. I currently live in Decatur, Il. I used to listen to the police everyday on the app on my phone. Recently though the channel has been taken offline. I was wonder if anyone in the area would recommend a cheaper scanner that would allow me to listen to the Decatur, IL police department. Something that is handheld or something that is around $100 because a lot that I have seen are around $500 that other people have recommended. Also something that would be easy to program or allow me to just scan and pick them up since this will be my first scanner

Most of what you will want to listen to is digital on trunking systems, You will need a trunk tracking digital unit to listen, You can find some under 3 or 4 hundred dollars.

I live in Clinton and routinely monitor Decatur. You'll definitely need a digital scanner capable of Apco 25 Phase I,II and DMR.
