• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello everyone, I am hoping there is someone that can help me out with this dilemma.

I am soon receiving a Bowman/Marconi?Selex (take your pick) H4855 Prc-343 Personal Role Radio. There seems to be a lack of information on this unit on the internet that is useful for someone that has not been able to made himself familiar with this unit. There is no user guide or manual to be found, nor any reasonable how-to's. My problem is as follows:

I am getting a dual PTT version and I would like to connect it to a secondary radio (PRM446). Will I have to fashion my own connector cable of some sorts? (usually other commercial radios dont come with LEMO connectors). I will probably be looking at a Kenwood or Motorola connector. If I do have to make my own cable, does anyone have a schematic of the H4855's pin wiring?

Other question: who has a manual? :)

And on a final note: how in darn-it's name do I program this thing...? Hmm, maybe with the answer provided to my question above :D

NB: since there are so many topics, I kind of got lost to where this thread belongs, so moderators and admins, feel free to move this post around as you see fit and accept my apologies.

I have since found the information needed, also with help from the above website and other sources. I bought it for 130 euros from a friend who was a dutch KCT operative.

Well, I am looking to connect my dual PRR to a secundary radio, probably a PMR 44 type, so if you have any information on the connector that runs out of the dual ptt module, that would be appreciated, i.e. what is the name of the connector, are there any impedence requirements etcetera. I have already found a picture telling what each pin is (if it is correct).

so how in fact does one go about connecting a secondary radio to the dual PTT? I have seen pictures of units connected to other radios using this bottom connector, but that might as well have been in error. If the bottom connector is just to connect to a repeater, must the secondary (command net) radio be connected to the 5 pin lemo connector on the top as well?
