To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Is there any special settings I need in my Pro 96 to follow an APCO25 trunking system (406-420mhz).
I've got it setup, it will stop on the TGs for a split second but I wont hear anything.

It's programmed as a Motorola. With trunkung turned on in that bank,

This is the system in question,

Work in progress I have a whole bunch more TGs I found with 'P96 Com' to submit.

thanks in advance.

BaLa,

Your database page does not list any table settings.

Open your PRO96COM folder and review the Tower txt file. A Tables paragraph should indicate how to set the scanner table.

Use PGM>TRUNK>FUNC+2 to set Base Freq, Offset and Step Size.
Then Use FUNC+4 and set as Table if only one table is listed.

If the system has more then one table, you'll need to use Win96 Multi Table to make the correct settings.

With UHF systems, you would normally use something like this:

Base 406.0
Offset 4096
Spacing 12.5

The base and spacing would be the only thing that would probably change... Post up the tower file and I can tell you for sure.

Ya got me  Bruce, I was thinking of you with my previous post. BaLa must still be sleeping.

I see your system is growing well. Guess it'll be end of April before we make the I-64 run.

I seen that military system above here at another base, but I can't seem to find where it is. One of the bases was in Georga and the other SC?
WVIO system is very-very slow, hit and miss one two times a day testing.

found it! Ft. Gordon GA. and Ft. Jackson SC. Go to Georga in the data base then click on ALL TRUNK SYSTEMS and go down to these two bases, there together and use the same system.

Ft Jackson SC and Ft Gordon GA. Before Mike had his Pro-96com out, we were at Ft Gordon's FamCamp for a couple of days. I tried to find the settings on my 96 then. Of course, it was imposable without Mike's program. Take a look at the 386 MHz project 25 system at Ft Benning GA.

sorry about the late reply, been staying at my GFs place. She doesn't have net access, so I usually go by the library or wherever else I can get on a wireless network and browse from there.

Yup, thats what we've been waiting for.

Try these settings:
PGM>TRUNK>FUNC+2
key in 403.0 then press ENTER
Key in 4095 then press ENTER
Use UP button until 12.5KHz is displayed then press ENTER
FUNC+4
Use UP button until Table is on line 4 then press ENTER, then SCAN
Done

Bruce, correct me if you think I have something incorrect.

The key in of 4095 should maybe 8192 for 12.5KHz. If 4095 doesn't work try 8192.

I'am looking at it. Identifer table "0" or "00" Base 403.000 Offset "same as CH - LO QUESTION? with table "00" or "0" is CH - LO "0" ZERO? or 4095? Then for step size I agree with 12.5 (0.0125) OK I edited stuff out that I posted after yours. Don't want to have confusion going on.

Correct, applying Mike's formula
Hi freq=Lo freq + (4095 * step)

so

Hi Freq=403.0000 + (4095 * .0125)
Hi Freq=403.0000 + 51.1875
Hi Freq=454.1875

Thus 4095 covers the whole range from 403.0000 through 410.1625.

tired here, So this is how he programs his custom table BASE 403.0000 OFFSET 4095 and step 12.5. Got some sleep and relooked at it and I think MIKE in the post below is correct with OFFSET "0"

Ok, that's what we needed...

Base 403.00000
Offset 0
Spacing 12.5

Single table should work fine...

Offset is 0 because it is using table #0...

thanks for the help guys, seems to be working fine now :D

what would happen if the scanner comes accross an encrypted TG?

Will it be garbled, will it ignore it/skip the TG, or stop on the TG with no Audio.

In 9600 systems, the Pro-96 won't skip them, you'll hear all the "R2-D2" gibberish.

The Uniden BCD396T will stop on the TG but will mute the gibberish.

Really don't want to make another new thread in this forum.

Do you guys ever run accross a situation where only part of the conversation is encrypted?

It seems like a large part of TGs on this system are partially encrypted.
I hear one side of the conversation and the other one is all garbled.
