If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello All,
Does anybody know how to save channel names on a BK EPH series radio through the keypad? I was able to program in all the other info but it will not show the channel name after hitting ENT and then turning the radio off and back on, it just goes back to Ch 1.

Thank You

Do you have alpha numeric capability turned on in the 3-12345 options?
It lets me name the channel, but when I click ENT and shut it off then back on, it still shows Ch 1 and if I go back to programming mode and go to where you name the channel, it shows what I named it but it doesnt show up when I turn the radio back on.

Oh man it's been 10 years since I played with BK keypad or PC programming but from memory ALPHA TAGS are accessed in the GENERAL SETTINGS which is also called the CH00 programming/settings then alpha enable is in the group 3 settings of CH00 by pressing key 5.

WHEN You are in the channel 00 general programming selection you need to then go thru group 1 to group 3 features and when in the group 3 settings you have to select function 5 ALPHA ENABLE (press key 5 which flashes 5 on the LCD) this then instructs the radio to display your programmed ALPHANUMERIC tags.

As mentioned above group 3, option 5 >> 3-1 2 3 4 '5'<< select 5 to turn alpha tags on
