RACOM has announced that the Public Safety Agencies in the Quad-Cities (Both sides of the river in Iowa/Illinois) will partner with them to build their own P25 system. No details beyond that.
I should mention is Rock Island County Sheriff will be going with them. According to a question on Facebook. The Sheriff is one of two law enforcement agencies left in the area on conventional VHF/UHF radio systems. The Quad-City International Airport Police is the other. Their plans are unknown at this time.
I saw an artical on facebook just now from racom saying that Dubuque County's new system is about ready for testing, anyone have any idea if it will be phase one or phase 2
Public Safety Agencies in Scott Co (IA) and Rock Island Co. (IL) have signed on with RACOM for a new shared trunked network on 700/800 MHz. According to the post on Facebook there will be twelve sites versus the current nine EDACS sites. There had been discussions in the media because of the costs for new radios for the smaller agencies.
