If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Trying to program a TK-3180 using KPG-92D.

Need to program the portable to transmit a beep when it hits a repeater.

Thanks!

I beilive something like a PTT transmit beep, letting the guy know that he is hitting the repeater. Hopefully that helps. Thats how it was explained to me. Thanks!

It sounds like what you actually want is the repeater to beep when the radio user unkeys (lets go of the push-to-talk switch). I don't believe there's any way in programming for the 2180/3180 to know if it hit the repeater or not.

I know there is a PTT proceed tone. And a release tone. The PTT proceed tone is on every frequency, right?

The proceed tone is generated in the radio and simply tells you when the radio has finished sending its PTT ID (if you have PTT ID enabled). This wouldn't take a repeater into consideration at all, you could be on a simplex channel or not in range of any other radio equipment at all. And the release tone is sent over the frequency by the radio so that other users know you have finished talking (and not that you've just lost connection to the repeater). Neither of these, unfortunately, will tell the end user whether or not he's reached the repeater himself.

What you want to do is available for LTR trunked systems only. If you are trying to access a conventional repeater no such beep exists.
