• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

1 deck UHF low (380-470) Nexedge and DMR
1 deck 700-800 P25

These are -LIST- prices. You should be able to do better:

NX-5700BK VHF RF deck only. $720.00
NX-5800BK2 UHF RF deck only. $720.00
NX-5900BK 700/800MHz RF deck only $990.00

Triple Deck, Dual Head, Triple Speaker, Remote head. Pick if you want full or basic head:
5BBMMM-MR Triple deck, dual -basic- head, triple speaker, remote mount (MUST be Kenwood assembled) $1682.00
5FFMMM-MR Triple deck, dual -full- head, triple speaker, remote mount (MUST be Kenwood assembled) $2204.00
L-5038 Package Triple Deck Dual Head Triple speaker remote (Kenwood Labor) $180.00
You can save some money by going with single speaker, but I'd recommend all three speakers.
There is also some work that goes into setting this all up, so you probably want the L-5038.

Programming:
KPG-D1NK programming software $155.00
KPG-46XM USB Programming Cable $158.00
KWD-ASK-AK Access Key for KPG-D1NK P25 trunked programming $208.00

P25 License Keys:
KWD-5100CV P25 Conventional $575.00
KWD-5101TR P25 phase 1 trunking (requires KWD-5100CV) $520.00
KWD-5102TR P25 phase 2 trunking (requires KWD-5100CV + KWD-5101TR) $400.00

DMR License Keys:
KWD-5300CV DMR Tier 2 Conventional. $60.00

With 2 or 3 head (preferably 3)

Limit is 2 control heads in a multi head solution.

Yes.

See above. It's list price, so you should be able to get it cheaper. State contracts are about 30% under list. As an individual, you likely won't get that, but it won't hurt to ask. I'd look at 20% under list.

Currently have dual head dual vhf deck installed in ambulance. Head 1 in cab, head 2 in patient area. We want to have two separate radios, however the heads are mirroring. Its acting as head 1 with a rear head. We can changed between the two decks, but both heads do the same thing.

Can these radios work independently? Can head 1 be on deck 1 and head 2 be on deck 2? I have Kenwood engineers scrambling to figure this out.

The reps and brochures state, "Dual Remote Control Heads x Multi RF Decks, This adds the convenience of a dual control head to the multi RF decks (3 max) configuration. Two operators can control 3 radios (e.g. VHF, UHF, 700-800 MHz) from separate control heads."

But that's not the case of how ours is programmed. Only one deck can be used by both heads at the same time, thus having second deck as a back up? Makes no sense!!

Sounds like a setup issue.

You can run same band RF decks with multiple heads, at least that's what I've been told.

-disclaimer- I'm only running single RF decks/single control head installs at work…

Since I have not personally done it, I don't have a good answer for you. Unfortunately I don't have access to my PC laptop, and won't for 3 weeks. I'll also be out of the office for several weeks and will have very limited access to internet and phone.
