• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

PLATFORM: NX-5000 VHF and UHF
SERIES: NX-5000
ISSUE: HARD LOCK with DMR and P25 and NXDN enabled radios.

NOT EFFECTED AS OF THIS NOTICE: NX-5400 / NX=5900

JVCKenwood has been notified and I along with Kenwood, have duplicated the bug where the radio will lock up on zone change from SITE ROAMING to another zone.

keyup in a site roam zone / channel, then switch to a P25 zone (next zone up) and it will hard lock.

This is being worked on and addressed at this time.

Version 2.30 of what radio/platform/software/firmware? JVCKenwood makes/sells a giant line of radios.

Thanks. I'm imminently taking delivery of a handful of 5400s in P25 form. I'll have to keep that in mind.

If you're doing DMR and P25 in 800 Mhz. this is not proven for that line at this time.
If you're getting NXDN and P25 for the 700(p25)/800(nxdn & p25) then you need not worry.

This is with the DMR Site Roaming, and changing to a P25 zone on a UHF 380-470 K6 radio this bug has
been found on.

Ok, my plans don't involve either DMR or NXDN at all... it's for a 700 MHz P25 system (and some analog in 800). Guess I'm OK. Thanks!

Your in the clear unless I find out otherwise, I have not had any issues with the 5400 and 5900 to speak of.

Update; notified this morning.

Platform: Nx-5000 series portables

kenwood engineers were able to replicate the bug between dmr and p25 zone changing; causes hard lockup.

Patch (next version) forthcoming

You are good to go, the 700/800 models do not have the zone change hard lock between dmr and P25.
