• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a Kenwood NX-300 -K3, for some reason when I connect a speaker mic to the radio, no audio will come from the speaker mic. I can key up the radio using the mic just can't get audio from the speaker. I have tried multiple speaker mics that I know work on other NX-300s (KMC-41s). With out the speaker mic, the radio speaker works just as normal. I thought it could possibly be dirty contacts but I cleaned them and still no luck.

I can't find anything in the program that would cause this. I'm willing to take apart the radio and do some trouble shooting but I wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue. I can't be certain, but I want to say the issue started after I had the firmware updated. I believe I've used a speaker mic before the update but it's been so long since I've attached a mic that can't remember.

I've tried searching a thread for this issue but haven't had any luck. So I apologize if this is something already talked about. I appreciate the help!

I have not seen any firmware cause the issues that you are having . The current firmware is V5.20 which was released last month. Attached is the side connector diagram with each pins description. I would look at pins 2 and 3 for the speaker audio connections.

Before you take the radio apart, take a look at the following:

In KPG-111, under "Optional Features 1", "Common Page 1", make sure your "External Mic Sense is not turned way down. Try 0dB (Normal).

If it does this only when in NXDN mode, then check the NXDN tab, "General 2" and make sure you have the right mic type selected, although this probably isn't the cause.

Could be someone monkeyed with the settings in maintenance, or could be something internal to the radio.
