• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hello, I have a problem that I could use some advice from my fellow radio reference members. I have a new Kenwood NX 3220 VHF DMR radio, I have all of my conventional analog channels, settings, and basically everything programmed that I want, except I am needing help with 2 DMR channels and they are both basically the same type of DMR system.
Long story short, my Kenwood dealer who I bought it from is fairly new to the digital programming, and he has even gone to his Kenwood rep and still can't figure the problem out. My problem is, I have 2 DMR channels in my radio for Rx purposes only, they are both group systems, and he's got everything programmed, he believes correctly, one channel group ID is 100, and the second channel group ID is 200, and for both channels the color code and Slot are the same numbers, 1. The frequency is programmed correctly, my problem is, I am not receiving any audio. When I am scanning, of course it's priority scan because of being on the fire department I want my scan settings set as priority scan, I can see by the scan LED blinking light that it's catching something on the DMR Channel, because every time it stops on a channel that the radio is receiving radio traffic, the LED turns from blue to green. So while I'm scanning, I can see that the radio is picking up some type of signal because again the scan LED light turns green, plus my programmed button for the background light and I can see that it's on the DMR Channel, and I can see the little radio tower icon and I can even see a couple signal bars, but again I get no audio output, but again the radio is obviously picking up something or it would not be stopping on that channel. Again that's all I need help with is 2 simple channels, he says he has it programmed as a group system, and unfortunately I don't have the money to buy the software or else I would try and look at it myself, but any suggestions would be great. Unfortunately this dealer who is a very nice guy just isn't familiar yet with the new digital stuff, and he's tried his technical rep and they cannot seem to figure it out, so something's wrong with the way it's programmed because again it's receiving some type of traffic or else it would not be stopping on that channel but it's not releasing any audio output. Again any suggestions would be great. If any of you do program these radios, he is willing to email a copy of my code plug if you're willing to try and fix it and then email it back to him with the correct settings and then he can program it into my radio. If anybody is willing to do that, I can give you more detailed information for each Channel, as far as frequency and such, if you want to try and look at the file via email if you program these radios and try and fix the 2 DMR channels. It will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Has your dealer talked to Long Beach yet? I think we are working on a like issue with 5000 also. Have them get in touch with the west coast after thanksgiving or me, and I can help guide who to pass this up the line to.

Are you still having a issue with this?. What I have found is you need to have your two dmr channels in different DMR Conventional folders. You can have one digital and however many analog channels you want in one DMR Conventional folder. But you must have the second in a new DMR Conventional folder in the System list. For some reason if you have 2 or more digital channels in the same folder, they default to slot 2 even though it says slot 1 in the programming.
