To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Has anyone seen any issues with the TK-5720 decoding when using a mixed mode receive using NAC $F7E?

My VHF unit is set up to receive our state patrol which is on P25. Since all areas use the same "car to car" frequencies (with different NACs) I should be able to program them using the F7E NAC code. Also since analog hasn't completely disappeared I set the channels up in mixed mode with CSQ and NAC $F7E (and $293) for Rx and Tx.

However, on these channels I end up hearing the P25 hash and not the decoded P25 audio. No these are not encrypted signals.

Any ideas?

Upgraded Late 2017. It's 2.21

That is the latest.
You may have to strap 1 zone P25, and 1 zone analog. I have seen this on my 5700 where I run mixed
and it does not latch in on P25. I will look in my 5700 and see if I can duplicate it with my monitor.

Thanks for checking. I would do the same but I don't have a VHF P25 portable at the moment. I'm going to verify that analog works on the mixed mode setting but I'm pretty sure it will.

I can say that I don't have any problems with P25 channels working with analog channels and vice versa [in the same zone.] It's just when using the "mixed mode" channel setting.

PS. On a slightly different subject, is there a maximum number of channels in a single zone? I have over 100+ channels in my first zone and I often wonder if the radio is ever able to cycle through each channel. A lot of my channels can be encrypted so it's not as easy to tell. I can do a simple test for this though -- at least on the analog side.
