BAY CITY, MI — American Courage, a 636-foot freighter capable of hulling 23,800 tons, made her way down the Saginaw River in Bay City this morning.
The ship lifted Bay City's bascule bridges shortly after 9:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17
They were using channel 88 if I recall correctly. Others heard em on 76,77 with bridge tenders on 12.

BAY CITY, MI — A number of ships in the past week have traveled up and down the Saginaw River, adding to what is being called a much-improved shipping season.

BAY CITY, MI — The horn of the tug Olive L. Moore sounded loudly as it pushed the barge Lewis J. Kuber down the Saginaw River in Bay City on Thursday, May 28. At 1:45 p.m. vehicle traffic stopped along the Independence Bridge as the spans of the bascule bridge were raised to allow the barge and tug to pass, heading toward Saginaw Bay.

BAY CITY, MI — Bridges in downtown Bay City have been in the up position a little more this summer, a clear indicator of a healthier shipping season.
On Monday, July 6, the Algorail, a medium-sized Great Lakes self-unloading bulk carrier, chugged through downtown Bay City after stops in Saginaw and Buena Vista, said Todd Shorkey, who reports for the site BoatNerd.com, a site which tracks shipping traffic on the Saginaw River and Saginaw Bay and other waterways.

BAY CITY, MI — On a beautiful Wednesday afternoon in downtown Bay City, the horn of the Algoway rang out, alerting operators to raise the spans of the Veterans Memorial bascule bridge.
Moments later, the 650-foot Great Lakes freighter passed by Wenonah Park, heading south toward Saginaw.
