Inland Waters

Do county communication centers, sheriffs (or similar entities) in your area monitor ch 16 - or for that matter ... is there much traffic on inland waters ... ie lakes, etc. I live in Madison, WI and am curious about this. Do you hear much civilian traffic on the allocated frequencies?

Here in Tuscaloosa we have the Black Warrior River that runs through the county. I sometimes hear traffic on ch. 16. As far as public safety goes, the police department here has a lake patrol division and they use the department frequencies. We also have a water rescue division in our fire department, same story for them as well.
