Yesterday afternoon there was a triple shooting in Edgewater. "Radio" initiated a 10-3 during this incident and started sending an alert beep / tone every 15 seconds or so for the duration of the 10-3. I've never heard this being done before - is it new?

Actually - it has been there for a while now... it is to let a unit that just came onto the channel know that there is a 10-3... In many cases, the units in the channel don't like it and ask to have to turned off (which may explain why you don't hear it too often).

Yeah, that beep every 10 seconds has been there since back when they changed freqs. Sometimes they leave it on during the 10-3 and other times, as Troy says, they ask dispatch to turn it off.
