In the past 30 min I have seen 5+ tanker trucks (LPG, gas, diesel) pulled over on 695 and I95 by unmarked MSP? SUVs and p/u trucks.

Nothing on the news.

Unsure what was/is going on. Last night, it involved Balt Co SWAT, Balt City QRT, FBI, MTA Police among other agencies & they talked as if it would be an extended operation. Aviation could be heard overhead the ground units. There was some talk of seeking certain vehicles representing a threat. A command-post had been established somewhere. Much of the communication was being directed to cell phones.

On the news right now!!! 1150 am est. Channel 11 Baltimore. The harbor tunnel is closed for a terrorist threat.

Info from Fox News online:

"The Baltimore Harbor Tunnel was closed while the Fort McHenry Tunnel was partially closed, with one lane of traffic moving in each direction, said Lt. Col. David Franklin of the Maryland Transportation Authority Police.

The closures were in response to a threat, a federal law enforcement official said. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue, did not provide further information about the nature of the threat."

BALTIMORE (AP) - One of two tunnels carrying traffic under Baltimore's harbor was closed Tuesday and another was partially shut down in response to what an official said was a security threat.

The Baltimore Harbor Tunnel was closed while the Fort McHenry Tunnel was partially closed, with one lane of traffic moving in each direction, said Lt. Col. David Franklin of the Maryland Transportation Authority Police.

The closures were in response to a threat, a federal law enforcement official said. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue, did not provide further information about the nature of the threat.

But another federal law enforcement official said the threat was phoned in to authorities by a person claiming to have information from abroad. Authorities are skeptical of the claim, but are checking it out nonetheless out of an abundance of caution, the official said. That source also spoke on condition of anonymity.

They are about to go in the building, change the signs and partially open the tunnel. Cones are being removed from the split so they can reopen Route 895 to the tunnel.

At 1318 they mention releasing the eastbound traffic (Must refer to 895)
At 1322 they mention all signs are activated at Harbor Tunnel and it's open.

1325 Reuters newswire notes that both tunnels are now open "after being closed due to a security alert." And all this is confirmed by traffic on 453.475.

The wrapup from The Baltimore Sun...

Federal authorities are detaining at least one man of Egyptian origin who worked at a Middle Eastern market in Baltimore in connection with a threat that closed Interstate 95 and the Harbor and Fort McHenry tunnels after concern over a suspected terrorist plot to blow up one of the tunnels. «SNIP»
