Tonight there were two fires in Frederick County requesting mutual aid from Montgomery County.
Montgomery dispatched units to use talk groups 9E and 9H on Montgomery radios.
These evidently correspond to Frederick Fire Tac 30 and Tac 40.
But a review of the Montgomery County FD channel plan matrix on radioreference.com fails to show 9E and 9H.
What am I missing?

I doubt its a patch or such. More likely, the radio is actually programmed on the Frederick system, so there is no TG on Montgomery with that designator. You are just hearing the refer to how they have it labeled in the Montgomery radio.

9E is TAC 30 in our radios. Since everyone in our county is used to switching to a numerical/alphabetical talkgroup, it was decided to keep it simple and keep it the same way for mutual aid. 9B is EMS 10. We switch to zone 9 then talkgroup B. Hope that helps.
